Our week was very happily interrupted by a small snow storm and I was giddy with delight. There's an unwritten law about needing to bake cookies on snow days, so I baked up a batch of my favorite shortbread and we spent a cozy day off at home.
I bought this planner last week and I am in love. I was almost afraid to use it - it's just so pretty! If I have not said it enough times, I adore Rifle Paper Company.
I have taken up knitting and now I cannot seem to stop. I have begun a new habit of going out to our living room at 5am, sending Mr. Pedantic off to work, brewing a pot of tea, and knitting beside the Christmas tree. I am typically spending about 2 hours there, taking in the cozy, writing in my journal, and leisurely typing away on my laptop. I believe it is one of the best accidental habits I have ever formed. It sets a very pleasant, peaceful tone for the rest of the day. In my mind, I think of it like eating a healthy breakfast. They say the first meal of the day is the most important, and I believe that the first hours of the day carry the same weight - they set the tone for the rest of the day.
Our local weather has been stuck in the 20s for about a week, and while that may sound tropical to some of you northerners, down here in Virginia, we are pulling out the parkas. This may be the season for smoothies and juice cleanses but all I want on these blustery days is crusty bread and endless bowls of soup and pasta. Oh, and muffins. I could eat all the muffins.
I loved this article. There were so many good tips. No. 7 was golden, and something I really want to work towards in the coming year.
I am so excited about the return of Victoria. I fell in love with the charming drama last year and I have been impatiently waiting for it to come back all year.
Don't you love grabbing all the citrus this time of year? I love that we get to enjoy something so bright and colorful during these cold, grey weeks. Cara cara oranges are my current favorite.
One of my unofficial resolutions this year was to keep my phone neater. That means disciplining myself to go into my camera roll and hit "delete" after I have taken shots for instagram, or an accidental screen shot. I hate when my phone is so full of junk that I cannot even find the pictures I am actually interested in saving. So far, so good, but I'll keep you posted.
Wishing you all a wonderful, cozy weekend!
Sincerely,
Pedantic Foodie
