Two years ago today I almost forgot to say "yes" to the man kneeling in front of me. We were on a windy mountaintop, standing amidst the apple trees, and I did not quite know why I was crying. Eventually, I took a deep breath, whispered the word, and he slipped a diamond on my finger.
Several weekends ago we made our annual pilgrimage to one of my favorite places on earth. While this orchard has been a treasured escape for many years, it's significance certainly increased two years ago.

APPLE TURNOVERS - When you slide these steaming, buttery packages out of the oven every hour of pastry making will be made worth it. I promise.
BUTTERMILK APPLE CAKE WITH CIDER GLAZE - It's breakfast, it's dessert, it's your new favorite snack - it's the very best apple cake.
BAKED BRIE WITH CARAMELIZED APPLES - I almost did not include this one because the photography is SO bad, but the recipe is so delicious and one of our autumn favorites.
APPLE CIDER SLUSHIES - All you need is a couple ice cube trays and a jug of cider.
APPLE PIE SCONES - The perfect way to begin an October Sunday.

A year ago (as of tomorrow) I went to a pumpkin patch, tore through my favorite burger, and then had a serious meltdown in Mr. Pedantic's car because we were exactly one week away from getting married!
